WANT TO LEARN A NEW SKILL? DON'T JUST WATCH VIDEOS. USE THIS 30-DAY PLAN. The internet has made learning incredibly accessible. But there is a trap. Watching tutorials can make you feel productive without actually becoming skilled. You watch: “How to design.” “How to code.” “How to edit videos.” “How to sell.” “How to speak confidently.” But months later, you've produced nothing. Learning requires practice. USE THE 30-DAY SKILL SYSTEM DAYS 1–3: DEFINE THE SKILL Don't say: “I want to learn tech.” That's too broad. Say: “I want to learn how to design simple social-media graphics.” Or: “I want to learn basic Excel.” Or: “I want to edit short-form videos.” Specific skills produce specific plans. DAYS 4–7: LEARN THE BASICS Find one structured course or learning source. Not 15. Learn: The vocabulary. The basic tools. The core principles. Avoid jumping between creators every ten minutes. WEEK 2: COPY FOR PRACTICE Not to steal. To understand. If learning design, recreate a simple layout. If learning editing, recreate an editing style. If learning writing, analyze and rewrite a good structure in your own words. If learning spreadsheets, rebuild a simple worksheet. Practice develops muscle memory. WEEK 3: BUILD SOMETHING WITHOUT FOLLOWING THE TUTORIAL This is where real learning begins. Create a small project from scratch. You'll suddenly discover what you don't understand. That's useful. Go back and learn only what the project exposes as a weakness. WEEK 4: CREATE A REAL PROJECT Make something you can show. A design. A website. A spreadsheet. A video. A presentation. A written article. A simple portfolio project. Skills become valuable when they can produce outcomes. USE THE 70/30 RULE As a simple learning principle: Spend roughly 30% of your learning time consuming information. Spend roughly 70% practising, building, testing and correcting. The exact percentage isn't sacred. The principle is: Practice should eventually take more time than watching. AT THE END OF 30 DAYS, ASK: What can I now do that I couldn't do 30 days ago? What still feels difficult? What project proves that I learned something? What should I practise next? You don't need to master everything in one month. You simply need to become noticeably better. 🎯 30-DAY CHALLENGE Choose ONE skill. Commit to at least 30 focused minutes a day. At the end of the month, post what you created in this community. Let's hold each other accountable. 💭 COMMUNITY QUESTION: If you could become genuinely good at ONE new skill over the next six months, what would you choose?
