BREAKING: Tinubu Ends Working Vacation, Departs Paris for Lagos President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ended his working vacation in Europe and departed Paris, France, for Nigeria, with his aircraft expected to arrive in Lagos today, Tuesday, September 29, 2026. The Presidency confirmed the development, saying the President has commenced his journey home after spending several weeks abroad. Tinubu departed Abuja on August 30 for London to begin what was initially announced as a three-week working vacation. After spending about a week in the United Kingdom, he travelled to Paris, where he continued his engagements before extending his stay by a few days. Why Tinubu Is Returning Through Lagos The Presidency said Tinubu chose to return to Nigeria through Lagos to honour the memory of the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, popularly known as MKO Abiola, a major figure in Nigeria’s democratic history. Tinubu is expected to attend the premiere of a movie celebrating Abiola’s legacy at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos, on October 1, Nigeria’s 66th Independence Day. The President is also expected to remain in Lagos for several days, where he will hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates ahead of the 2027 general elections. Activities During His European Stay During his time in Paris, Tinubu held engagements with prominent figures, including French President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bolloré. He also attended events connected to investment and infrastructure projects involving Nigeria. Among them was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World concerning the development of the Gateway Deep Sea Port and a Blue Marine Economic Zone in Ogun State. The Presidency maintained that despite being outside Nigeria, Tinubu remained in contact with officials at home and continued directing government affairs during his working vacation. Return to Nigeria Tinubu’s arrival in Lagos marks the end of his extended stay in Europe and his return to in-country presidential engagements. His Lagos schedule is expected to include activities surrounding Nigeria’s Independence anniversary on October 1, as well as meetings with political leaders and other stakeholders. The President’s return comes as the Federal Government prepares for the Independence Day celebrations and political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections continue to develop. #Tinubu #PresidentTinubu #Nigeria #NigerianNews #BreakingNews #LatestNews
